Behaviour + Works, Susan G. Friedman

Dr. Susan Friedman is a psychology professor at Utah State University who has pioneered the application of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to captive and companion animals. ABA, with its roots in human learning, offers a scientifically sound teaching technology and ethical standard that can improve the lives of all learners. Students from 22 different countries have participated in Susan’s online courses, Living and Learning with Animals for Professionals and Living and Learning with Parrots for Caregivers.

Good Friday Avian Behaviour Services, Kristi Flemming, Based in Ontario

Kristi has worked for over 20 years caring for and training exotic animals, from hamsters, to dolphins. Her personal passion is parrots. Kristi has been a professional member of the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators (IAATE), a regular columnist for Parrot Life Magazine, and has lectured extensively across Canada, including the Canadian Parrot Conference, the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians annual conference, and the Ontario Veterinary College. Kristi is available for lectures, workshops, or private consultations. Kristi advocates the gentle but effective techniques of Positive Reinforcement and Applied Behaviour Analysis for use with all animals, and is a student of Dr. Susan Friedman’s “Living and Learning with Parrots” ABA group.

She writes a regular avian behaviour feature article and  “Ask the Avian Expert” column for the Parrot Resource Centre newsletter, Bird Tales.

Lara lives in Ohio where she owns and operates The Animal Behavior Center, an animal behavior and training facility based on teaching people how to train, force-free through empowering the animal and creating strong, reliable, trust-building relationships using positive reinforcement and applications in behavior analysis.
